2004 Employee Volunteer Survey Results
In October of 2004, a volunteerism survey was mailed to 5,600 SUNY Upstate Employees with the following results:
- 567 surveys were returned—10% of Upstate employee population
- Employees reported over 50,000 hours of volunteerism 2004
- Organizations mentioned most frequently were:
- Churches and Synagogues
- Schools
- Youth and Community Groups
- Fire Departments
- School Sports
- CNY Children's Hospital
- Agencies most frequently mentioned were:
- American Heart Association
- American Cancer Society
- American Red Cross
- Arthritis Foundation
- Food pantry programs
- Literacy groups
- Vera HouseRape Crisis Center
- Hospice and Palliative Care Association
- Volunteer work includes:
- General assistance (clerical and administrative, building and maintenance support)
- Fundraising (phonathons, etc.)
- Board and committee membership
- Teaching and tutoring (wellness, college preparation, etc.)
- Participating in fundraising walks and runs
